Petrol Strike has been announced across Pakistan after the All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association said negotiations with the government over daily fuel pricing and dealer margins failed to produce an agreement.

According to the association, discussions with the Federal Minister for Petroleum ended without a breakthrough, prompting fuel station owners to announce an indefinite nationwide strike.

In a video message, association leader Nauman Butt said both sides failed to resolve differences over the implementation of daily petroleum price adjustments and the issue of dealer profit margins.

Following the unsuccessful talks, the association announced that all petrol pumps across Pakistan will close from 12:00am on 22 July.

Nauman Butt said the strike would continue until the government accepts the association’s demands.

The association has instructed petrol pump owners across the country to participate fully in the shutdown and urged all members to keep their filling stations closed from the announced deadline.

The planned strike could disrupt fuel supplies and affect transportation if the government and the association fail to reach a new agreement.
