Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) has opened a new grain storage facility in Multan, expanding its logistics capacity in South Punjab by around 40,000 metric tons.

The company inaugurated the facility on September 2, 2026. It marks LDC’s first owned industrial site in Pakistan.

The new facility will strengthen LDC’s grain storage and logistics operations. It will also help the company serve suppliers and customers more efficiently.

LDC said Pakistan remains an important market for grains. The company also sees the country as a key destination in its South Asian operations.

LDC Expands Its Pakistan Operations

Rubens Marques, LDC’s Head of South and Southeast Asia, said Pakistan plays an important role in the company’s regional strategy.

He said growing populations and economies need reliable agricultural supply chains. He added that the new investment will strengthen LDC’s domestic presence.

The facility will also help LDC respond to changing customer needs. The company plans to strengthen its core merchandising operations across key markets.

LDC entered Pakistan in 2010. Since then, the company has expanded across several agricultural sectors.

Its local operations cover cotton, grains, oilseeds, pulses, rice and sugar. The company also holds a strong position in Pakistan’s wheat market.

New Facility Supports Grain Supply Chains

Pakistan ranks among South Asia’s major agricultural markets. It also ranks among the world’s largest wheat producers and consumers.

A population of more than 250 million continues to support strong food and grain demand.

Muhammad Danyal, LDC’s Country Head for Pakistan and Head of Grains and Oilseeds for Pakistan, said the country’s agricultural base offers further opportunities.

He said the new logistics investment will improve services for both suppliers and customers.

The facility should also support more efficient and resilient grain supply chains. LDC expects the investment to contribute to local job creation as the sector develops.

LDC operates across the agricultural value chain. Its activities include sourcing, processing and transporting agricultural products.

The company operates in more than 100 countries across six regions. It employs more than 20,000 people worldwide.

LDC handles around 100 million tons of agricultural products each year. Its operations span coffee, cotton, food and feed solutions, freight, grains and oilseeds, juice, rice and sugar.

The new Multan facility adds another major asset to the company’s growing presence in Pakistan.
