Last week, Sindh Labour Minister and Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (SESSI) Chairman Saeed Ghani confirmed HIV infections in 78 children. Hospital records now show two additional cases.

The father of a nine-year-old girl said doctors confirmed her HIV infection on Friday. He added that all three of his children now live with the virus.

His three-year-old and 12-year-old sons tested positive several months ago. His nine-year-old daughter has now received the same diagnosis.

The father said doctors admitted his daughter to KBV Hospital in late 2025 for a chest infection. As her condition worsened, doctors advised an HIV test. The test confirmed the infection.

He said the diagnoses have caused severe emotional and psychological stress for the family.

The second new case involves a three-year-old girl from Metroville Colony.

Her father said she also received treatment at KBV Hospital. Doctors later confirmed that she had contracted HIV.

He said doctors carried out several medical examinations before recommending an HIV test. The child’s health continued to decline before the diagnosis.

Both families demanded a transparent and impartial investigation. They also called for strict legal action against anyone found responsible.

The parents urged authorities to immediately screen every child who received treatment at KBV Hospital. They said early testing could help identify more infections.

Residents of Zia Colony and Metroville Colony also expressed concern. Many families rely on the SESSI-run hospital for medical care.

On July 3, the Sindh High Court ordered the provincial government to submit a detailed report within two weeks. The petition alleged that more than 200 children of industrial workers contracted HIV and nine died because of alleged negligence at the hospital.

Following public concern, the SESSI governing body approved a Rs2 billion endowment fund on July 9. The fund will support the treatment and welfare of children affected by HIV.

Officials said the fund will provide quality medical care and long-term support for affected children and their families. Authorities continue to investigate the outbreak.
