Bannu Operation: Five militants were killed during a joint operation by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the Gulbahar Haved area of Bannu, officials said.

According to a CTD spokesperson, security forces engaged the militants in an exchange of fire during the operation, killing all five suspects.

Police deployed additional personnel to the area after the operation and launched a search and clearance operation to trace militants who managed to flee.

The spokesperson said security forces recovered weapons and hand grenades from the dead militants. Authorities have started the identification and profiling process to determine their identities and possible affiliations.

Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi praised the CTD and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for carrying out the operation successfully.

Naqvi commended the personnel for their professionalism and bravery, saying they had foiled the militants’ plans through timely action.

Security officials said the search operation would continue until the area is fully cleared.
