Intel may use the Core Ultra 4000 naming convention across its upcoming Nova Lake desktop and laptop processor families, according to a prominent hardware leaker.

Several reports have linked the Core Ultra 4000 branding to Intel’s next-generation Nova Lake processors. The naming has also appeared in hardware monitoring software and reports involving early engineering samples.

AIDA64 is among the latest sources to indicate that Intel is preparing Core Ultra 4000 branding for Nova Lake chips. Now, leaker @jaykihn0 has suggested that the naming scheme will extend beyond desktop processors to cover the wider lineup.

Intel May Drop Separate Naming Schemes

Earlier reports suggested that Intel would use different naming conventions for high-performance and mainstream Nova Lake processors.

Under that reported plan, desktop Nova Lake-S and high-performance laptop Nova Lake-HX chips would carry the Core Ultra 4000 branding. Meanwhile, mobile Nova Lake-H and lower-power variants would reportedly use the shorter Core Ultra 400 series name.

However, @jaykihn0 has now indicated that Intel could use Core Ultra 4000 branding across all Nova Lake families. The response came after a user asked whether the naming convention would cover the entire lineup.

If accurate, the approach would include Nova Lake-S, Nova Lake-HX, Nova Lake-H, Nova Lake-U and Nova Lake-UL processors.

A unified naming scheme could make it easier for consumers to recognise Intel’s processor generation across desktop and laptop products. However, buyers would still need to check individual model numbers and specifications to compare performance.

Nova Lake Expected to Arrive in 2027

Intel’s Nova Lake processors are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027. The desktop lineup is reportedly set to use the new LGA 1954 platform.

Not every processor may arrive at the same time. Some families and individual models could follow later in 2027.

Reports also point to a flagship processor with up to 52 cores. However, Intel has not officially confirmed the full product lineup, specifications or naming scheme.

For now, the Core Ultra 4000 branding across all Nova Lake variants remains an unconfirmed report. Intel’s official announcements will provide the final details about its next-generation desktop and mobile processors.
