Los Angeles: AI Film studio Fountain 0 will release a fully AI-generated adaptation of The Odyssey shortly after Christopher Nolan’s big-screen version reaches cinemas, highlighting the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence in filmmaking.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, opens in theatres on Friday. Soon afterwards, Fountain 0 will stream Odysseus: The Fall, which tells the legendary hero’s journey from the perspective of the sea.
Fountain 0 deliberately scheduled its release alongside Nolan’s film to encourage audiences to compare two different interpretations of Homer’s classic epic.

Executive producer Tom Rogers said the project shows how artificial intelligence can support filmmaking while giving independent creators the opportunity to produce large-scale stories without massive Hollywood budgets.
Ash Koosha, co-founder of Fountain 0, created the 135-minute feature over three months while working part-time. The studio said it spent only a modest amount on cloud computing services to produce the film.
Rogers said AI could expand access to filmmaking by lowering production costs and allowing more creators to bring ambitious stories to life.
The rapid rise of AI-generated films has also intensified debate across the entertainment industry. Many filmmakers, actors and writers argue that AI could reduce creative opportunities for human talent.
Earlier this month, producers announced AI-generated actor Tilly Norwood as the lead in the feature film Misaligned. SAG-AFTRA criticised the decision, saying it could undermine human artistry.
Fountain 0 previously premiered Dreams of Violets at the Tribeca Film Festival, making it the first fully AI-generated feature to screen at a major international film festival.
The studio created Odysseus: The Fall with the AI video model Kling and then enhanced every scene with its own production software to achieve a cinematic finish.
