PSX Gains 164 Points as KSE-100 Index Trades at 166,130

KARACHI, October 20, 2026: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) traded higher on Tuesday as investors bought shares in automobile assemblers, cement companies, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration firms, and oil marketing companies.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index stood at 166,130.38 points at 12:28pm, up 164.30 points, or 0.10%, from the previous close of 165,966.08 points.

The market opened positively, gaining 312.38 points, or 0.19%, to reach 166,278.46 points. However, the index later surrendered some gains before recovering slightly.

Trading remained cautious during the morning session as the benchmark fluctuated between positive and negative territory. Nevertheless, buying interest in major sectors helped keep the market in positive territory.

Rising Oil Prices Keep Investors Focused on Geopolitical Risks

International oil prices also influenced market sentiment. Brent crude hovered near a five-month high as traders factored in geopolitical risks following Houthi attacks on Saudi infrastructure and reports of vessel attacks in the Gulf.

These developments raised concerns about potential disruptions to regional energy supplies. Consequently, investors continued to monitor regional tensions and their possible effects on oil prices and energy-related stocks.

Russia Offers to Help Ease Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions Amid Security Crisis

PSX Trading Volume Reaches 81.49 Million Shares

By 12:28pm, trading volume had reached 81.49 million shares, with the total traded value amounting to Rs4.34 billion.

Although the index remained higher than its previous close, intraday fluctuations reflected a cautious approach among investors as they assessed market opportunities and external risks.

The figures represent the market’s position during Tuesday’s session, rather than its final closing performance.
