Shehbaz Sharif: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the relevant authorities to maintain full preparedness to address any challenges arising from regional tensions, while reaffirming that Pakistan’s economy remains stable.

Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review the impact of regional developments on the national economy, the prime minister said the government must remain vigilant and develop a comprehensive strategy to respond quickly to any emerging situation.

Officials informed the meeting that Pakistan currently has sufficient petroleum reserves to meet domestic demand. They added that the government has taken measures to ensure a steady fuel supply in the coming weeks.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the government’s timely response, saying it had helped maintain fuel supplies and protect consumers from market disruptions.

He said government subsidies had reduced the impact of fuel price increases on ordinary citizens, including motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers and transport operators.

The prime minister directed federal and provincial authorities to take strict action against anyone creating an artificial shortage of petroleum products or engaging in hoarding.

He also thanked the public for supporting the government’s previous austerity campaign and fuel conservation drive. He urged citizens to continue adopting energy-saving practices to strengthen Pakistan’s economic resilience.

Shehbaz Sharif warned that prolonged regional instability could affect Pakistan’s economic outlook and stressed that all relevant institutions should remain fully prepared for any future challenges.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahad Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ali Pervaiz Malik and Awais Leghari, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmed, and senior government officials.
