Iran attack: Iran Launches Attacks on US Military Bases in Gulf

Iran attack  escalated sharply on Wednesday after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched attacks on US military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan in response to continued American strikes.

The IRGC said it targeted command-and-control centres, logistics facilities, fuel installations and military equipment linked to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as well as a US military base in Kuwait. It also claimed to have struck the Azraq Air Base in Jordan for a second time.

Iran said the attacks were retaliation for the latest US military operations and Washington’s renewed blockade of Iranian shipping around the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, the IRGC warned that if the United States continued efforts to restrict Iran’s oil and gas exports, Tehran could target additional regional energy routes that serve US and allied interests.

The group declared that regional energy exports would be “for everyone or for no one” but did not identify which shipping routes it might target.

Authorities in Bahrain and Kuwait issued missile alerts after detecting incoming projectiles. Jordan’s military said it intercepted three Iranian missiles, while Kuwait reported that its air defences destroyed hostile Iranian drones.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that Iran launched dozens of missiles and drones towards neighbouring Gulf countries.

Meanwhile, the US military said it carried out a fourth consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military targets. CENTCOM said fighter aircraft, drones and naval forces attacked dozens of missile sites, drone facilities, naval assets and coastal defence systems during a seven-hour operation.

According to the US military, the strikes aimed to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump also renewed his warning to Tehran, saying the United States would target Iran’s power plants and bridges if it refused to return to negotiations.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said Washington would eventually strike Iran’s energy infrastructure unless Tehran agreed to negotiate.

The latest escalation follows the US decision to restore its naval blockade of Iranian shipping after talks over Iran’s nuclear programme stalled. The renewed confrontation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict and increased concerns over global energy supplies, as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil transit routes.
