Islamic Finance: Meezan Bank partners with LUMS to launch online certification programme

Meezan Bank has partnered with LUMS to expand Islamic Finance education through a new online certification programme. The initiative aims to prepare skilled professionals for Pakistan’s growing Islamic finance industry.

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to combine Meezan Bank’s industry expertise with the academic strength of the Centre for Islamic Finance (CIF) at LUMS. As a result, they will work together to make quality Islamic finance education more accessible in Pakistan and abroad.

The partnership will begin with a specialised online certification programme called “Learning from Leaders of Islamic Finance.” The course will include a structured curriculum, practical assessments and recognised certification standards. In addition, leading industry experts will share practical knowledge and real-world experience.

LUMS will host the programme on its digital learning platform, LUMSx. Therefore, students and professionals will be able to access the course from anywhere through an online format.

Khalid Zaman Khan, Group Head of Human Resources, Learning and Organisational Development at Meezan Bank, and Dr Tariq M. Jadoon, Provost of LUMS, signed the agreement. Senior officials also attended the ceremony, including Dr Saad Azmat, Jazib Zahir, Shayan Ahmed Baig, Anwar ul Haq and Mehar Younus.

Dr Tariq M. Jadoon said Islamic finance remains one of the fastest-growing sectors of the global financial industry. Therefore, the industry needs more accessible and high-quality learning opportunities. He added that the partnership combines academic excellence with industry expertise to develop future-ready professionals.

Meanwhile, Khalid Zaman Khan said the future of Islamic finance depends on professionals with technical expertise and a strong understanding of Shariah principles. He said the partnership reflects Meezan Bank’s commitment to developing industry talent. Moreover, it will expand access to quality education through digital learning.

Overall, the collaboration strengthens the connection between academia and industry. It also creates a practical learning pathway for students and professionals who want to build expertise in Islamic finance.
