Seifert’s 72 Powers Manchester Super Giants to Maiden Hundred Title

Tim Seifert smashed 72 from 38 balls as Manchester Super Giants beat Trent Rockets by five wickets to claim their maiden Hundred title at Lord’s on Sunday.

Seifert produced a stunning attacking display. He struck four fours and seven sixes to lead the Super Giants’ successful chase of 159.

Manchester reached 162 for five with two balls remaining. Liam Dawson sealed the victory with a six, completing a dramatic finish.

Seifert Leads Super Giants Chase

After Jos Buttler chose to field, Seifert and Paul Walter gave Manchester an explosive start.

The pair added 66 from just 31 balls. Walter contributed 22 from 14 balls, including two fours and a six.

Seifert reached his half-century from only 23 balls. His innings ended at 72, but he had already put Manchester firmly in control.

Buttler added 23 from 14 balls. He hit three sixes as the Super Giants reached 100 from 54 balls.

Leus du Plooy then steadied the chase with an unbeaten 27 from 18 balls. He struck four boundaries.

Heinrich Klaasen made 11 before falling at 156. Michael Bracewell then departed without scoring.

Dawson joined du Plooy and finished the contest with a winning six. He remained unbeaten on six from three balls.

Rockets Post 158 for Eight

Trent Rockets scored 158 for eight after being asked to bat first.

Aneurin Donald provided the biggest contribution. He smashed 38 from 19 balls, including five fours and two sixes.

Ben Duckett made 31 from 24 balls. Lewis Gregory then added 32 from just 16 deliveries, hitting two fours and three sixes.

Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 20 from 16 balls. Craig Overton contributed 11 from five balls.

The Rockets reached 100 from 73 balls but lost five wickets by 114. They recovered late to finish on 158 for eight.

Noor Ahmad Leads Bowling Attack

Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad played a key role for Manchester.

He claimed three wickets for 33 runs. Sonny Baker took two for 34.

Liam Dawson and Josh Tongue also claimed one wicket each. Dawson conceded only 25 runs from his 20 balls.

The Super Giants then maintained control throughout most of their chase. They reached 150 from 88 balls before the late wickets created tension.

Seifert Named Player of the Series

Seifert finished the tournament with 394 runs and collected both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.

His explosive final innings proved decisive as Manchester Super Giants secured their first men’s Hundred championship.

The victory also ended the Rockets’ hopes of completing a men’s and women’s title double at Lord’s.
