Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday removed Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgen after intermediate examination papers were postponed ahead of her scheduled visit to the district on November 10.
Ozgen had written to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi, explaining that the deployment of administrative and security personnel could disrupt examinations and inconvenience students.
The decision drew a strong reaction from the chief minister. Maryam announced Ozgen’s immediate removal, saying she had already instructed officials not to let her district visits disrupt public activities.
“This is a clear disregard for my directions,” she said in a post on X.
In a subsequent post, Maryam shared the transfer notification. It directed Ozgen to report to the Punjab Services and General Administration Department for further orders.
She also ordered authorities to hold the postponed examinations according to their original schedule on Tuesday, November 10.

“Notwithstanding any acts of foolishness or misplaced over-smartness on part of the district administration, the examinations shall be held strictly in accordance with the original schedule,” she said.
The chief minister also issued instructions to regional and district police officers, commissioners and deputy commissioners.
She directed officials to ensure that her visits did not result in the closure of markets, shops, businesses or other establishments.
Authorities were also told not to block residential streets or restrict residents’ movement under the pretext of security arrangements.
Maryam stressed that security measures should remain discreet. They must not cause inconvenience, disruption or hardship for the public.
She warned that officials who failed to follow these instructions would face strict action.
