K-Electric Teams Respond After Fire Damages KWSC Cables Near Dhabeji

A fire in bushes near the Dhabeji Pumping Complex damaged cables linked to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), according to a K-Electric spokesperson.

K-Electric said it extended full cooperation to KWSC and immediately deployed emergency response teams to address the fault.

The teams worked to restore the affected system at the earliest, the spokesperson said.

Most Pumping Motors Remained Operational

Another fault later developed in an underground cable, according to K-Electric.

Despite the additional fault, power remained available to 20 of the 22 pumping motors at the complex.

K-Electric teams responded to the issue and promptly restored the affected cable, the spokesperson said.

The utility added that its emergency teams remained engaged to minimise disruption to the pumping system.

K-Electric Had Shared Infrastructure Advisory

K-Electric said it had shared an advisory plan with KWSC around three months ago.

The plan aimed to help improve KWSC’s infrastructure and strengthen the reliability of its electrical systems.

K-Electric said it is now awaiting KWSC’s final response to the recommendations.

Advisory Plan Could Reduce Future Faults

According to K-Electric, implementing the advisory plan would improve KWSC’s infrastructure.

The company also said the measures could significantly reduce the likelihood of similar cable faults in the future.

K-Electric said it remains committed to supporting KWSC and responding to infrastructure-related emergencies.
