Jared Leto Faces Allegations of Criminal Sexual Conduct With Teenagers in BBC Documentary

LONDON: Jared Leto is facing a series of serious allegations after a BBC documentary featured claims from multiple women accusing the Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman of sexual misconduct spanning more than a decade.

According to the BBC documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, four women accused Leto of conduct that allegedly occurred when they were teenagers. The allegations include claims of sexual assault, grooming, statutory rape and sexually explicit communication.

One woman alleged that Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another claimed the actor threatened her with sexual assault after she was left alone with him in a hotel room at the age of 19.

More than 100 words into the investigation, Jared Leto also faced allegations from a third woman, who claimed she had sex with him in California when she was 17. She said Leto dismissed concerns after she mentioned that the state’s age of consent was 18. A fourth woman alleged that Leto groomed her when she was 16 by making repeated sexually explicit phone calls and, on one occasion, suggesting they have sex. She also claimed she later received a non-disclosure agreement, which she refused to sign.

The BBC reported that four additional women described receiving unusual and often sexually explicit phone calls from Leto when they were younger.

Another woman alleged that when she was 14, Leto instructed a security guard to escort her backstage at a music festival after making what she described as a sexually suggestive comment during an autograph session.

BBC Investigation Details

The documentary includes interviews with 10 women, nine of whom publicly shared their experiences for the first time. According to the BBC, the women said they encountered Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s.

The broadcaster said it corroborated several accounts through conversations with friends and family members and reviewed photographs, messages and other supporting material where available.

The investigation also featured interviews with two former associates of Thirty Seconds to Mars, who described concerns among staff regarding interactions with teenage girls.

No Public Response From Leto

The BBC said it repeatedly contacted Leto for comment before publication of the documentary but did not receive a response to the allegations.

As of publication, no criminal charges or civil court rulings related to the allegations described in the documentary have been publicly announced. The allegations remain claims that have not been tested in court.
