BANNU: Terrorists attacked Miryan Police Station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district on Wednesday, triggering a powerful explosion and a prolonged gun battle with security personnel, police said.
According to preliminary reports, the attackers attempted to ram an explosives-laden vehicle into the police station, causing a massive blast that damaged the building and nearby houses.
Bannu District Police Officer Captain (Retd) Muhammad Furqan Bilal confirmed the attack and said authorities were assessing the situation. He added that officials would release details about casualties after completing the assessment.

Following the explosion, police officers engaged the attackers in a heavy exchange of fire as security forces tightened security across the area.
Additional police contingents rushed to the scene, while members of the Police Peace Committee also arrived to support security efforts.
Residents reported hearing the blast from several kilometres away, while the explosion caused damage to nearby residential properties.
Initial reports indicated possible casualties and property losses, with rescue teams shifting the injured to hospitals for treatment. However, authorities had not officially confirmed the number of casualties or the extent of the damage at the time of reporting.
In April, a suicide car bomb attack on Domel Police Station in Bannu killed at least five civilians and injured 13 others, including a police officer.
