Governor Nehal Hashmi said Pakistan’s strength lies in unity, constitutional supremacy and mutual respect among people of different faiths and schools of thought. He said education, awareness and dialogue remain the most effective tools to counter hate speech and anti-state narratives while encouraging responsible citizenship.

Both sides agreed to expand cooperation between government institutions, religious leaders, universities, seminaries, media organisations and civil society to strengthen national unity and discourage sectarianism and extremism.

At Jamia-tur-Rasheed, Rector Maulana Abdul Rahim welcomed the delegation and said the institution has worked to bring together scholars from different schools of thought and representatives of minority communities to promote peaceful dialogue and mutual respect.

He said Islam guarantees the protection of every citizen’s life, property, honour and religious freedom. He also highlighted Jamia-tur-Rasheed’s educational model, which combines traditional Islamic studies with modern education, including O Level, A Level and university degree programmes.

Addressing the gathering, Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi called for greater unity within the Muslim Ummah and stressed the importance of respecting all schools of thought and their religious personalities. He also urged people to uphold Pakistan’s Constitution and strengthen national unity.

Ashrafi paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs, saying their sacrifices have safeguarded the country’s sovereignty. He also praised the efforts to promote national cohesion and stability.

Religious scholars, representatives of different schools of thought and minority community leaders endorsed the messages of peaceful coexistence, constitutional supremacy, interfaith harmony and dialogue.

Participants agreed to promote the national messages of Paigham-e-Pakistan and Paigham-e-Aman through seminaries, universities and youth platforms to counter extremism, sectarianism, hate speech and anti-state propaganda.

The visit concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s peace, stability, prosperity and unity.
