South Air: South Air has launched scheduled domestic flight operations in Pakistan under the Tourism Promotion and Regional Integration (TPRI) Licence, expanding the country’s regional air connectivity.

The airline began operations from Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, with its inaugural flights to Turbat, Quetta, Bahawalpur and Islamabad.

Flight Z8911 departed from Karachi to Turbat before continuing to Quetta. Flight Z8942 operated from Karachi to Bahawalpur and then continued to Islamabad. Return services Z8912 and Z8971 also formed part of the inaugural schedule.

South Air said the new services will improve domestic connectivity and offer passengers more travel options across Pakistan.

The airline will initially operate one weekly flight on the Karachi–Turbat–Quetta route using ATR72-600 aircraft. It will also operate three weekly flights on the Karachi–Bahawalpur–Islamabad route using ATR72-500 aircraft.

The airline plans to expand its network with future services from Karachi to Peshawar, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Gwadar.

Quetta International Airport welcomed the inaugural flight with a traditional water cannon salute. Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail attended the ceremony along with provincial officials and other guests.

Airport officials held a cake-cutting ceremony at the CIP Lounge and briefed guests on South Air’s future expansion plans. The governor wished the airline success and expressed support for the continued growth of Pakistan’s aviation sector.

Islamabad International Airport also hosted an inaugural ceremony to mark the launch of the new service. South Air Chairman Qamar Muhammad Tariq, Chief Executive Officer Nishat Fatima and other senior officials attended the event.

Flight Z8942 arrived in Islamabad with 37 passengers and later departed on its return journey carrying 56 passengers.

South Air said the new routes mark the beginning of its long-term plan to strengthen domestic air travel and improve regional connectivity across Pakistan.
