Spain vs France: Spain secured a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final after defeating France 2-0 in the semifinal at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Spain controlled the match with disciplined defending, relentless pressing and confident possession. The European champions kept France’s attack quiet and moved one step closer to winning their second World Cup title.

Spain took the lead in the 22nd minute. Lamine Yamal won a penalty after Lucas Digne brought him down inside the box. Mikel Oyarzabal converted the spot-kick with confidence and scored his fifth goal of the tournament.

France struggled to create chances as Spain dictated the pace. The French side suffered another blow before halftime when defender William Saliba left the field with an injury.

Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute. Dani Olmo combined with Pedro Porro in a quick passing move before Porro fired past goalkeeper Mike Maignan to make it 2-0.

France introduced fresh attacking players in the second half but failed to break through Spain’s well-organised defence. Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise found little space as Spain limited France to very few clear scoring opportunities.

Spain have now conceded only one goal during the tournament. The victory also extended their unbeaten run in regular time to 37 matches, highlighting the team’s consistency at both ends of the pitch.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente praised his players after the match and described Spain as “the best team in the world” on the night. Pedro Porro called reaching the World Cup final “a dream come true.”

France, champions in 2018 and runners-up in 2022, will now play in the third-place playoff. Spain will face the winner of the second semifinal between Argentina and England in Sunday’s final.
