Pakistan-Uzbekistan: Five-Year Economic Roadmap Expected During Uzbek Deputy PM Visit

Pakistan-Uzbekistan: Pakistan plans to sign a five-year trade and economic cooperation roadmap with Uzbekistan during Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev’s visit on July 20-21, 2026.

Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review preparations. Officials finalized the visit’s agenda and coordinated arrangements across government departments.

The meeting brought together Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul, senior railway officials, the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and representatives from other ministries.

Officials focused on improving regional connectivity. They discussed new road and rail links, transport corridors and better logistics infrastructure. These projects aim to lower transport costs and increase trade between the two countries.

Pakistan will also host a Business-to-Business (B2B) Forum during the visit. More than 100 Uzbek companies are expected to attend. Business leaders will explore investment, trade and joint venture opportunities.

Both governments will prioritize agriculture, pharmaceuticals, industry, transport and logistics. They also want to strengthen public-private partnerships and encourage new investment.

Ahad Cheema said the visit would mark another milestone in bilateral relations. He expressed confidence that both countries would sign the Five-Year Roadmap for Trade and Economic Cooperation during the visit.

Officials also finalized several memorandums of understanding (MoUs). Leaders from both countries are expected to sign these agreements during the visit. The deals will expand cooperation across multiple sectors and support long-term economic growth.

Cheema instructed all ministries to complete preparations on time. He said the visit offers a strong opportunity to deepen economic ties, improve regional connectivity and increase bilateral trade.
