Neuro-Inclusive Discovery Room: EBM and NOWPDP Launch Pakistan’s First Learning Space

Karachi: Neuro-Inclusive Discovery Room has been launched by English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM) in partnership with NOWPDP at the Center of Excellence for Disability Inclusion (CEDI) in Korangi, Karachi, marking Pakistan’s first dedicated learning space for children with developmental disabilities.

Developed with the experiential learning expertise of The Dawood Foundation’s MagnifiScience Centre, the Discovery Room is designed for children with autism, ADHD and other developmental conditions. The facility uses interactive play to support cognitive, sensory, motor and social development in an engaging learning environment.

PTCL CEO: Nadeem Khan Confirmed as Chief Executive Officer

According to Pakistan’s 2023 Population Census, around 3.1% of the country’s population lives with a disability. Despite this, access to neuro-inclusive learning and developmental support remains limited, making the new initiative a significant step towards expanding inclusive education.

“For sixty years, EBM has believed that nourishing Pakistan means nourishing all of it,” said Dr Zeelaf Munir, Managing Director and CEO of EBM. She said the Discovery Room combines science, play and therapeutic learning to create an environment tailored to the strengths of neurodiverse children.

Inspired by experiential learning, the Discovery Room transforms interactive science exhibits into therapeutic experiences that encourage sensory integration, executive functioning, motor development and social interaction. The facility also aims to help children build confidence, independence and a lifelong interest in learning.

NOWPDP Chief Executive Officer Omair Ahmed said inclusive infrastructure plays a vital role in creating equal opportunities for children with disabilities. He thanked EBM for supporting the project and said the initiative provides a learning environment that promotes dignity, accessibility and interactive education.

EBM and NOWPDP said the partnership reflects their shared commitment to advancing inclusive education and creating spaces where children with disabilities can learn, participate and thrive.
