WASHINGTON — US Strikes against Iran intensified after the United States said it carried out a “heavy wave” of airstrikes in response to what it described as an attempted ballistic missile attack on American troops stationed in the Middle East. The operation marked one of Washington’s largest military responses in recent months and further escalated tensions between the two countries.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes targeted dozens of facilities linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Military officials said the operation focused on command centers, missile and drone infrastructure, coastal surveillance systems, maritime defense sites, and other military assets.

President Donald Trump said the United States would respond decisively to any attack on American forces. CENTCOM described the latest operation as a “powerful response” intended to reduce future threats against US troops, commercial shipping, and regional allies.

Iranian state media reported casualties from the strikes, saying at least three people were killed on Qeshm Island, including a child. Additional locations in southern and western Iran were also reportedly hit during the operation. Iranian authorities have condemned the attacks, while the full extent of the damage remains unclear.

The latest exchange comes amid heightened instability across the Middle East, where repeated military confrontations have increased concerns over a broader regional conflict. Diplomatic efforts to ease tensions have stalled, while regional governments continue to monitor the rapidly evolving security situation.
