The Sindh government has decided to seek cabinet approval for a new logistics park and the purchase of 500 electric buses.
The decision came during a meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) Board.
Senior Sindh Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon chaired the meeting.
The board reviewed several projects linked to public transport and the wider transport sector.
Officials discussed the expansion of the mass transit system. They also reviewed plans for modern and environment-friendly public transport.
The meeting approved steps to complete the technical and administrative work for the proposed logistics park.
The government will then seek approval from the Sindh Cabinet.

He said the facility could help reduce pressure from heavy traffic in the city.
The minister also said the project could support the development of Sindh’s transport and logistics sector.
He directed officials to complete the required procedures at the earliest.
The SMTA Board also discussed the purchase of 500 EV buses.
Officials will complete the necessary technical and administrative procedures before seeking cabinet approval.
Memon said expanding modern public transport remains a priority for the Sindh government.
He said the addition of more electric buses would improve public transport services in Karachi.
The buses would also provide a more environment-friendly travel option for citizens.
The meeting also reviewed progress on mass transit projects in Sindh.
Officials discussed traffic management and modern travel facilities for citizens.
They also examined administrative, technical and practical issues facing the transport sector.
The meeting was attended by SMTA Board members and senior officials.
Those present included Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, SMTA Managing Director Behzad Memon and DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah.
Other concerned officials also attended the meeting.
The Sindh government said the proposed projects would support the expansion of modern public transport and improve transport infrastructure across the province.
