Saudi Airstrikes Kill 10 in Yemen as Houthis Threaten US Targets

Saudi airstrikes killed 10 people and wounded 14 others across Yemen over the past 24 hours, Houthi-affiliated media reported on Wednesday.

The reported strikes came as the Houthis warned that they would target US interests in the Middle East if Washington intervenes in Yemen’s conflict to support Saudi Arabia.

The threat raises concerns about a wider regional escalation.

The Houthis have launched an offensive in recent weeks and say they have gained control of parts of Yemen’s Red Sea coast and areas around the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.

A Houthi military adviser told AFP that the group would target American positions if the United States attempts to reopen the shipping route.

Houthis Warn US Against Military Intervention

Houthi military adviser Abed Mohammed al-Thawr said US military intervention would cross a “red line” for the group.

He warned that the Houthis would target American interests in the region if Washington provides military support to Saudi Arabia.

Thawr also said the group could completely close Bab al-Mandab to American ships if the United States intervenes.

Trump’s Board of Peace Unveils $2.45 Billion Gaza Recovery Plan

His comments came after reports that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Yemen’s government had requested military assistance from US President Donald Trump.

The warning adds another layer of tension to the conflict and raises concerns over the security of one of the world’s key maritime routes.

Saudi Strikes Reported Across Two Governorates

Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV reported that Saudi airstrikes caused casualties in Taiz and Al-Jawf governorates.

The channel reported that eight civilians died and 11 others suffered injuries in Taiz.

It also reported two deaths and three injuries in Al-Jawf.

The figures came from Houthi-affiliated media and could not be independently verified.

Saudi Arabia has not immediately confirmed the reported casualty figures.

Houthis Threaten Retaliatory Attacks

The Houthis accuse Saudi Arabia of carrying out hundreds of airstrikes in Yemen since a four-year truce collapsed in July.

The group has responded with drone and missile attacks against Saudi targets, including positions around Riyadh.

Thawr said the Houthis would continue their attacks as long as Saudi Arabia maintains its military campaign.

The escalating threats have increased concerns over possible attacks on commercial shipping and regional infrastructure.

Bab al-Mandab at Centre of Growing Tensions

The Bab al-Mandab Strait connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.

The narrow waterway serves as a major route for international shipping between Europe and Asia.

Any prolonged disruption could affect commercial vessels and regional trade.

The Houthis’ warning also raises the possibility that the Yemen conflict could draw the United States more directly into the fighting.

For now, the reported Saudi airstrikes and Houthi threats have added to tensions across the region as both sides signal further military action.
