NAGOYA, September 26, 2026: Pakistan’s Mohammad Ashab Irfan and Noor Zaman won bronze medals in men’s singles squash at the 20th Asian Games after losing their semi-finals on Saturday.

Irfan, ranked 49th in the world, lost 3-0 to India’s Abhay Singh, who is ranked 26th.

Noor, Pakistan’s top-ranked player at No. 29, also suffered a straight-games defeat against Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng, the world No. 18.

The results ended Pakistan’s hopes of an all-Pakistan final but secured two bronze medals for the country.

Abhay Singh Ends Irfan’s Run

The Indian controlled the opening game and quickly established a lead.

Eain Yow Beats Noor Zaman

Noor Zaman also lost his semi-final in straight games.

Eain Yow defeated the Pakistani 11-7, 11-2, 11-4 in 26 minutes.

Noor made a competitive start and stayed close to the Malaysian in the opening game.

However, Eain Yow gradually took control of the rallies and won the game 11-7.

The Malaysian then increased the pressure in the second game. Noor managed only two points as Eain Yow moved within one game of the final.

Eain Yow continued to dominate in the third game and completed the 3-0 victory with an 11-4 win.

Noor had defeated Hong Kong’s Chi Hin Henry Leung 3-1 in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals.

Pakistan Secures Two Squash Medals

The two bronze medals add to Pakistan’s medal tally at the Asian Games.

Their semi-final appearances had already guaranteed Pakistan at least one medal because losing semi-finalists receive bronze in the individual squash event.

Both players will now turn their attention to the remaining Asian Games squash competitions, including the team events.
