Head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson’s pre-match press conference ended abruptly after Israeli journalists raised questions about Gaza and alleged incidents involving the Irish team.
The Republic of Ireland’s press conference in Serbia was cut short on Saturday, a day before their Nations League match against Israel.
Ireland beat Israel 3-0 in Hungary on Tuesday.
The match followed a tense build-up. Irish players had expressed concerns about the war in Gaza before agreeing to play the fixture.
The latest tensions emerged when Israeli journalists questioned Hallgrimsson about events surrounding the teams.
One journalist asked Hallgrimsson about an incident involving a Flydubai flight travelling from the UAE to Israel.
Emirati judicial authorities and Israeli officials have described the incident as a “terrorist act”.

The journalist then questioned Hallgrimsson about his alleged support for people whose ideology was based on violence.
An Irish press officer interrupted and said the session would focus only on football-related questions.
Another journalist then alleged that Irish players had called Israeli players “monkeys” during the match.
An FAI official immediately rejected the claim as “completely untrue”.
The microphone was taken from the journalist. The reporter objected before the Irish delegation ended the press conference.
Ireland defeated Israel 3-0 in Hungary in the opening match.
The Irish players wore armbands during the game.
They also lowered their heads while the Israeli national anthem played. The captains did not shake hands before kick-off.
The return match will take place in Backa Topola on Sunday.
The Football Association of Ireland decided not to host the fixture at home because of security concerns.
Israeli officials have criticised the Irish team’s actions.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar accused Dublin of being on the “wrong side of history”.
Hallgrimsson said his priority was keeping the Irish squad united.
He acknowledged the pressure surrounding the team and said the situation had created strong emotions in Ireland.
The manager said he would consider it a success if the squad emerged from the match united.
Hallgrimsson said the team had introduced a new routine before recent matches.
Players and staff now gather for a prayer and team huddle before entering the pitch.
He said the routine helps the squad calm down before high-pressure matches.
Midfielder Conor Coventry has taken responsibility for leading the routine.
Hallgrimsson said the approach helps players begin intense matches with “cool heads”.
