KARACHI, September 10: Indonesia is strengthening its engagement with Pakistan’s healthcare industry through Indonesian Medica, a dedicated showcase at Health Asia Expo & Conference 2026.
The event is taking place from September 10 to 12 at the Karachi Expo Centre. Indonesia is serving as the Country Partner for this year’s expo.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal inaugurated Health Asia 2026 and later visited the Indonesian Medica pavilion.
He joined Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir for a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The visit highlighted growing cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan in the healthcare sector. The health minister welcomed bilateral cooperation, while the Indonesian consul general expressed his appreciation for the minister’s visit.
The Indonesian Medica initiative was facilitated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi.
It brings together the Indonesian Medical Device Ecosystem Development Association (HIPELKI) and several Indonesian companies.
Participants include PT Sugih Instrumento Abadi, PT Ocean Medica and PT Eagle Indo Pharma, which is known for its Cap Lang products.
The showcase features medical devices, hospital and healthcare products, as well as consumer health and wellness items.
The initiative aims to do more than display products. The Indonesian Consulate is also facilitating direct engagement between participating companies and Pakistani industry stakeholders.
These include importers, distributors, medical-device manufacturers, hospitals and healthcare associations.
Indonesian Consul General Mudzakir said the initiative aims to help companies understand Pakistan’s market and establish lasting business relationships.
“We want Indonesian companies not simply to exhibit products, but to understand the Pakistani market, meet the right partners and build sustainable business relationships,” Mudzakir said.
Pakistan’s demand for imported medical devices creates opportunities for Indonesian companies.
The country is also seeking to expand local manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports. These developments could create opportunities for technology cooperation, production machinery, distribution agreements and joint manufacturing.
Ahead of Health Asia 2026, the Indonesian Consulate facilitated direct engagement between HIPELKI and the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP).
HDAP represents around 300 importers and manufacturers, according to the statement.
HIPELKI brings together approximately 250 companies and stakeholders from Indonesia’s medical-device ecosystem.
The two organisations’ engagement aims to strengthen business links between healthcare companies in both countries.
“Our objective is practical: turn meetings into connections, connections into business leads, and business leads into trade and industrial partnerships,” Mudzakir said.
The Indonesian Consulate will continue facilitating targeted meetings during Health Asia 2026.
The meetings will connect Indonesian participants with potential Pakistani partners and industry networks.
The consulate also plans to continue engagement after the exhibition.
Through Indonesian Medica, Indonesia aims to establish a more structured presence in Pakistan’s healthcare market.
The initiative could also provide a platform for longer-term cooperation between healthcare industries in Indonesia and Pakistan.
