A high-level German delegation met Dr Sham Sunder Advani, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh for Minorities Affairs and Chairman of the Sindh Evacuee Trust Property Board.

The delegation visited Advani’s office in Karachi on Thursday.

The German delegation included Rachel, Federal Commissioner for Religion and Beliefs at the Federal Office in Berlin, and Dirksen, his assistant.

The delegation also included Violetta Anand, Consul at the German Embassy in Islamabad; Markus Forster, Consul and Deputy Head of Mission at the German Consulate in Karachi; and Dagmar Traub-Evans, Consul for Culture at the German Consulate in Karachi.

German Delegation Discusses Minority Affairs

Advani welcomed the delegation with the traditional Sindhi greeting “ڀلي ڪري آيا”.

Both sides discussed minority affairs, community welfare and rights during the meeting.

They also discussed security, the repair and maintenance of places of worship, interfaith harmony and other matters of mutual interest.

Advani briefed the delegation on Sindh government initiatives for minority communities.

He highlighted work on the repair, renovation, security and maintenance of places of worship across the province.

Advani reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equal citizenship, religious freedom and interfaith harmony.

He also stressed the protection of the rights of all communities.

Sindh Highlights Welfare Initiatives

Advani linked the government’s approach to the vision outlined by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his August 11, 1947 address.

He said the Minorities Affairs Department continues its welfare and development work across Sindh.

According to Advani, the department is working under the guidance of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and in line with the directives of the senior leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

The German delegation appreciated the initiatives discussed during the meeting.

It also stressed the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation on minority welfare and interfaith harmony.

Focus on Minority Youth

The meeting also explored opportunities for minority youth.

The participants discussed education, skills development and professional growth.

Both sides agreed to maintain engagement and explore further cooperation.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continued dialogue.

As a gesture of Sindhi hospitality, Advani presented traditional Sindhi Ajraks to the visiting delegation.
