A panel discussion then examined barriers to inclusive education. Speakers explored practical ways to make learning environments more accessible and ensure that people with visual impairments can access educational resources.
A key highlight was the launch of Boltay Huroof’s Braille application and a book. The app supports the conversion of Urdu and English text into Braille, helping users access written content through digital technology.
The launch marked a step in the organisation’s efforts to improve access to reading materials for people with visual impairments.
Speaking at the conference, Boltay Huroof CEO S H Umar highlighted the work behind the book, which aims to serve both sighted and blind readers.
“Eight years ago, the idea of a book readable by both sighted and blind readers simultaneously seemed impossible to many. Today, Alhamdulillah, after 8 years of relentless research, development, and teamwork, we have achieved it. This is just the beginning — with sustained government support, we can accelerate inclusive innovation and ensure no one is left behind, especially Persons with Disabilities.”
The conference drew representatives from banking institutions and international organisations.
Attendees included Lubna Farooq Malik, CEO of the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF); Hirra Qaiser, CSR Head at the National Bank of Pakistan; Asif Abrar, UNICEF Education Specialist; and Dr Luay Shabaneh, UNFPA Representative.
