Trump Offers UFC Chief Dana White White House Press Secretary Role

US President Donald Trump has asked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) chief executive Dana White to become the next White House press secretary.

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump also suggested that White bring several current and former UFC fighters to serve as assistants.

Trump described White as a “violent Fighter and Warrior”. He also named six UFC figures he wants to see join the proposed team.

The list included Russian fighters Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov, both from Dagestan. American fighters Justin Gaethje and Daniel Cormier were also mentioned.

Trump additionally named “Kayla Harris”, apparently referring to American fighter Kayla Harrison, and Brazilian-born Amanda Nunes, who became a US citizen last year.

“We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left,” Trump wrote.

Dana White to Meet Trump at the White House

White addressed the proposal during a press conference in London on Saturday, following a boxing event.

He said he would meet Trump at the White House on Monday. However, he did not confirm whether he would accept the proposed position.

The White House press secretary role has remained vacant since Katie Zacharia left last month. Her tenure lasted less than a week.

Zacharia had replaced Karoline Leavitt, who departed the position at the end of August.

Trump and White Have Longstanding Ties

Trump and White first worked together in the early 2000s. At the time, Trump’s Taj Mahal casino hosted several UFC events.

Their relationship strengthened after White publicly supported Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Trump has attended several UFC events in recent years. In June, the White House also hosted a UFC fight night as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of US independence.

The White House communications team already includes a former UFC spokesperson. Steven Cheung, the White House director of communications, worked for White’s organisation from 2013 to 2016.
