foodpanda has introduced a new safety feature in its rider mobile app to help delivery partners improve their driving habits. The company developed the feature with Sentiance, a global behavioural analytics technology provider.
The technology analyses driving behaviour and provides personalised safety insights. As a result, riders can better understand their habits and receive practical tips to improve road safety.
Sentiance’s Software Development Kit (SDK) now runs directly within foodpanda’s rider app. It uses on-device edge computing to process data from smartphone sensors, including GPS, accelerometers and gyroscopes.
This approach allows the technology to analyse driving patterns on the rider’s phone. It can then generate relevant insights to help riders make safer decisions on the road.
Riders can access these insights through a dedicated Safety Centre in the app. The feature displays a personalised “Safe Trip Rate” and offers recommendations based on driving behaviour.
Through these insights, riders can identify areas for improvement and adopt safer driving practices. Over time, foodpanda aims to reduce road risks and improve safety across its delivery fleet.
Ahsan Malik, Director of Logistics at foodpanda Pakistan, said the company prioritises the physical safety and well-being of its delivery partners.
“The physical safety and well-being of our delivery partners are among foodpanda’s top priorities. By integrating Sentiance’s behavioral analytics technology into our rider app, we are transforming everyday smartphones into proactive tools that help enhance safety,” Malik said.
The initiative highlights foodpanda’s use of technology to support its riders. The company aims to encourage safer driving through accessible insights and practical guidance.
