Thousands Join Karachi Martyrs Run as Sindh Police Honours Fallen Heroes

Sindh Police organised the annual Shahada Run in Karachi on Saturday to honour the sacrifices of police martyrs and encourage healthy community activities. More than 5,000 people joined the event, making it one of the largest public participation campaigns held on Police Martyrs’ Day.

The Sindh Police Sports Board organised the run in collaboration with Born2Run. Participants started and finished the race on the Sea View–Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue route. Police officers, athletes, students, families, women and children took part. Organisers also held the event simultaneously in 12 cities across Pakistan.

Thousands Participate to Honour Police Martyrs

More than 100 words into the event, Shahada Run continued to highlight the sacrifices of over 2,000 Sindh Police martyrs who lost their lives while protecting the province. Inspector General of Police Sindh Javed Alam Odho attended the event alongside Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, SSP CTD Irfan Bahadur, social figures and hundreds of citizens.

Addressing participants, IG Javed Alam Odho said the run honours police martyrs and keeps their legacy alive. He welcomed the strong public response and said the event continues to grow every year. He also appreciated the organisers, volunteers and Born2Run founder Suhail Shabbir for successfully hosting the third edition.

Police Stress Sports and Anti-Drug Campaign

The IG said Sindh Police will continue protecting the country, the province and Karachi without hesitation. He urged young people to stay away from drugs and adopt sports and other healthy activities.

He also called on citizens to support law enforcement in the fight against narcotics. According to the IG, Sindh Police registered more than 750 drug-related cases over the past year and arrested nearly 850 suspects involved in drug trafficking and drug use.

He encouraged citizens to help create a cleaner, greener and safer Karachi through collective efforts.

Winners Receive Cash Prizes

Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan said the sacrifices of police martyrs remain a source of inspiration for the entire force. He added that Sindh Police will continue supporting the families of martyrs and carrying forward their mission.

Suhail Amir won first place in the men’s category, while Shajar secured second and Riaz finished third. Maria Bibi claimed first place in the women’s category, followed by Natasha in second and Mumtaz Memon in third.

Organisers awarded Rs100,000 to each first-place winner, Rs75,000 to each runner-up and Rs50,000 to each third-place finisher during the closing ceremony.
