US Embassy Warns Americans to Consider Leaving Middle East as Regional Tensions Rise

The US Embassy in Jordan has urged American citizens to consider leaving the Middle East if regional security conditions deteriorate further, citing growing tensions and the possibility of travel disruptions across the region.

In a security alert issued on Saturday, the embassy advised Americans currently in the Middle East to remain vigilant and prepare for possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures, and other travel interruptions. It also urged US citizens outside the region to carefully reconsider plans to travel to or through the Middle East.

More than 100 words into the advisory, the US Embassy warned that Iran and groups aligned with Tehran could target US interests overseas as the regional security environment remains “fluid.” The embassy also advised American citizens in Jordan to avoid travelling to military bases and to closely monitor official updates while following instructions issued by Jordanian authorities.

The warning comes as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to intensify. According to recent US media reports, Washington is considering new military strikes on Iran, although no final decision has been publicly announced.

Regional security concerns also increased earlier on Saturday after Kuwait said it intercepted hostile drones targeting a government facility and civilian vehicles. Kuwaiti authorities reported material damage but no casualties.

In a separate maritime incident, a commercial tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile near the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman. Maritime authorities said the vessel sustained damage to its engine room, while no injuries or environmental damage were reported.

The latest developments have raised concerns over potential disruptions to regional security, international travel, and maritime trade as diplomatic and military tensions continue to escalate across the Middle East.
