KARACHI: Food Safety will take center stage next week after the Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP) invited Sindh Food Authority Director General Shahzad Fazal to participate in the 17th Consumers Food Safety & Quality Conference & Awards 2026, scheduled for August 5 in Karachi.
CAP Chairman Kaukab Iqbal met Shahzad Fazal at the Sindh Food Authority headquarters to congratulate him on his safe return from Umrah. The meeting also focused on strengthening cooperation between the public sector and consumer rights organizations to improve food quality standards across Pakistan.

Senior Sindh Food Authority officials attended the meeting, including Director Central District Muhammad Danish, Director Waseem Shah, Director Administration Syed Umaid Ali Shah and Deputy Director Muhammad Asad Abro.

More than 100 words into the discussion, Food Safety remained the central theme as Kaukab Iqbal briefed the director general on preparations for the 17th Consumers Food Safety & Quality Conference & Awards 2026. The event will take place at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi and will bring together government officials, regulators, food industry leaders, consumer rights advocates, academics and other stakeholders.
Kaukab Iqbal said the conference will provide a national platform to discuss emerging challenges and practical solutions for strengthening Pakistan’s food safety and quality framework.
He formally invited Shahzad Fazal, along with directors, officers and officials of the Sindh Food Authority, to participate in the event. He said the conference aims to promote consumer awareness, encourage stronger regulatory enforcement and enhance cooperation between public and private sector institutions.
Director General Shahzad Fazal praised the Consumers Association of Pakistan for its continued efforts to promote consumer protection and public awareness.
He appreciated CAP’s role in organizing a national forum dedicated to food safety and quality standards. He also confirmed his participation in the conference.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in food safety, consumer rights, quality assurance and public awareness initiatives.
They expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between government institutions and civil society organizations will help improve food standards, protect consumers and support a healthier Pakistan.
