Wafflix Owner Death Mystery Deepens as CCTV Reveals Mir Raza Ali’s Final Hours

Mir Raza Ali, the owner of the popular Wafflix café, remains at the centre of an intensifying investigation after newly obtained CCTV footage revealed a detailed timeline of his final movements before his death, as police continue to examine whether the case involves murder or suicide.

According to investigators, Mir Raza Ali, a resident of PECHS Society Block 2, left his waffle shop near Bahadurabad at around 3:30am on July 28 after taking a .30-bore pistol belonging to the shop’s security guard from a drawer. Police said he drove to his residence, where he left behind his car, smartwatch, house keys and Rs39,000 before booking an online taxi.

Investigators said Mir Raza departed his home at 4:08am and travelled towards Gulistan-e-Jauhar. His mobile phone was reportedly switched off near Johar Mor Hilltop at approximately 4:22am, while taxi records indicate he was dropped in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 2 around 4:28am. CCTV footage allegedly shows him walking alone after leaving the vehicle.

More than 100 words into the investigation, Mir Raza Ali has emerged as the focus of an extensive forensic and financial inquiry. Police officials say they have collected significant evidence and are moving closer to determining the motive behind the case. However, investigators stressed that no final conclusion will be reached until forensic examinations and all available evidence have been fully reviewed.

According to police sources, Mir Raza was involved not only in the food business but also in digital currency trading, where he managed investments for several individuals. Investigators believe his business began suffering substantial financial losses from December 2025, with further setbacks reported in April 2026.

Police estimate the losses left him with debts ranging between Rs50 million and Rs80 million. Authorities claim he contacted several people on the night before his disappearance in an effort to arrange additional funds and investments. Investigators are also examining multiple financial transactions, including an overseas investment reportedly valued at Rs7.5 million.

Police have also recorded the statement of Mir Raza’s fiancée. According to investigators, the couple remained in contact until around 11:30pm before his disappearance. She reportedly attempted to reach him again at approximately 3:00am, making more than 40 phone calls and sending numerous messages over the following 20 minutes without receiving a response. Investigators said some of the messages expressed concern about his safety.

Authorities further allege that Mir Raza deleted his social media accounts before leaving home and transferred Rs250,000 to his father’s bank account. Police also claim he discarded his mobile phone during the journey. The device was later recovered after three labourers working along University Road found it, allowing investigators to trace its location.

The .30-bore pistol allegedly taken from the café has not yet been recovered, although investigators say they found its holster during the inquiry. Police continue to investigate both murder and suicide as possible causes of death.

Mir Raza’s parents have firmly rejected the suicide theory. They allege their son was tortured, burned and later shot in what they describe as a premeditated killing.

According to the family, the body showed visible burn injuries, signs of torture and marks around the neck that they believe indicate strangulation. They also claimed one of his hands remained tightly clenched around a piece of rope while several fingers appeared burned, raising concerns that someone may have attempted to destroy forensic evidence.

The family further questioned why Mir Raza would have travelled several kilometres to an isolated location if he had intended to take his own life, arguing that such circumstances strengthen their belief that he was murdered.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and have urged the public to avoid speculation until forensic reports and all investigative findings are completed.
