Sindh Education Offices have faced major disruptions after prolonged power outages brought official work and public services to a near standstill for almost three weeks.

The outages have affected the Directorate General Colleges Sindh, Regional Directorate Government Colleges Sindh, Directorate General Private Institutions Sindh and the Regional Directorate Private Schools Karachi.

Officials said lengthy load-shedding during office hours has disrupted daily operations and delayed public services.

They added that the outages have shut down computer systems, internet services and printing facilities.

As a result, staff have struggled to process online registration of private schools, issue computerised certificates, handle complaints and manage admissions to government colleges.

The Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions on Burns Road has suffered the greatest disruption.

Officials said electricity usually remains unavailable from 11am to 2pm and again after 4pm.

They said offices receive electricity for only three to four hours during the eight-hour working day.

The Deputy Director of Inspections said repeated power cuts have severely affected modern online office systems.

He said staff cannot access computers, internet services or printers during outages, preventing them from completing routine government work.

The official also said the department had cleared all electricity bills.

He added that officials had repeatedly contacted the relevant authorities and sent formal letters to K-Electric, but the problem remains unresolved.

Officials from the Colleges Department also said the outages have disrupted the ongoing government college admission process.

Teachers, students, parents, principals and school owners visit these offices daily for admissions, registrations and complaints.

Many visitors now wait for hours before leaving without completing their work.

Officials said the outages have affected all three floors of the building.

They added that the lack of fans and air conditioning has created extreme heat inside offices, forcing employees to continue their work outside.

They urged the authorities to restore an uninterrupted power supply during office hours and resolve technical issues, including transformer-related faults.

A K-Electric spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment.
