The Dr Akash Murder investigation continues as police say they have not yet recovered the Rs20 million stolen during the fatal robbery near Teen Talwar in Karachi’s Clifton area.
A preliminary investigation report submitted to the Judicial Magistrate South states that police have arrested three suspects. The report also says authorities have declared three other suspects, including a woman, as absconders.
According to the report, the arrested suspects—Suresh alias Sagar, Ram Chand and Anil—allegedly confessed during interrogation to carrying out the robbery and opening fire during the incident.

Police first arrested the three men in an arms case. Investigators later nominated them in the murder case after recording their alleged confessional statements.
The report says the suspects admitted targeting a man who had withdrawn cash from a bank near Teen Talwar.
According to police, the suspects claimed they snatched the money before a security guard opened fire on them.
They allegedly returned fire and fled the scene.
The suspects later told investigators that they learned someone had died during the exchange of gunfire.
Police subsequently included them in the case relating to Dr Akash’s killing.
Investigators told the court they still need to recover the stolen Rs20 million, arrest the remaining suspects and conduct an identification parade of those already in custody.
The report also describes the arrested men as habitual offenders.
Police said they are questioning the suspects in connection with other criminal cases as the investigation continues.
