Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) have marked 50 years of strategic partnership, highlighting a relationship that has supported Pakistan’s energy supply since 1975.

The two companies have supplied Gasoil and Jet Fuel to Pakistan without interruption for five decades. Senior officials from both organisations gathered to commemorate the milestone and discuss opportunities for future cooperation.

Five decades of energy cooperation

PSO said the partnership has continued through changing markets, global crises and shifts in the international energy landscape.

The company also thanked the Government of Pakistan, the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy and the National Commodity Management Committee for supporting the policy framework behind the long-standing cooperation.

PSO said the partnership has helped strengthen Pakistan’s energy supply chain while contributing to stronger ties between Pakistan and Kuwait.

PSO and KPC explore new opportunities

The companies are now exploring ways to expand their cooperation beyond existing petroleum supplies.

Potential areas include Motor Gasoline, LPG and other petroleum products. The two sides are also considering joint ventures in refining, petroleum storage and terminal facilities.

Shipping and logistics partnerships are another area under consideration. PSO said these initiatives could further strengthen the country’s energy supply chain.

The companies also aim to deepen energy cooperation in line with the strategic priorities of Pakistan and Kuwait. Sustainability will remain an important part of their future plans.

Focus on the next 50 years

PSO expressed appreciation to Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al Sabah, Managing Director International Marketing at KPC, and the company’s leadership for their role in strengthening the partnership.

A PSO spokesperson said the relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait extends beyond commercial interests.

“The bond between Kuwait and Pakistan transcends business. It is a relationship of solidarity, mutual respect and friendship between two nations.”

The spokesperson said PSO and KPC have helped translate that friendship into tangible benefits for Pakistan and intend to continue doing so.

PSO said it looks forward to welcoming Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al Sabah and the KPC delegation to Pakistan to formally commemorate the 50-year milestone.

The two companies also plan to establish a roadmap for the next 50 years. They said their continued cooperation will focus on strengthening Pakistan’s energy security, supporting economic growth and developing a sustainable energy future.
