Pooh Shiesty Reportedly Locked in Cell for 23 Hours a Day Ahead of 2027 Trial

Rapper Pooh Shiesty reportedly spends 23 hours a day inside his cell at a Texas jail. His lawyers want better detention conditions before his February 2027 trial. However, federal prosecutors oppose their request.

The rapper’s real name is Lontrell Williams Jr. He is being held at Rolling Plains Regional Jail in Haskell, Texas.

His defence team has filed an emergency motion asking the court to intervene. The lawyers say jail officials cut his monthly in-person visitation allowance from four hours to two.

They argue that Williams has not shown violent or threatening behaviour that would justify these restrictions. They also say jail officials have offered only a vague explanation for his isolation. According to the defence, the jail claims it must isolate him for his own protection.

Defence Raises Concerns About Isolation

Williams’ attorney, Kent Schaffer, described the conditions to Complex.

“He is locked down 23 hours per day and has no contact with anyone other than staff.”

Schaffer argues that pre-trial detention should not punish a defendant. He also says the restrictions are harming Williams’ mental and emotional well-being.

Williams’ aunt has reportedly raised similar concerns. She has expressed worries about his anxiety and apparent decline.

Prosecutors Cite Security Risks

Federal prosecutors want the judge to reject the defence motion. They argue that the restrictions help maintain security and order at the jail.

According to court documents reviewed by Complex, prosecutors cited several alleged safety concerns. These included an incident in which inmates reportedly tried to reach Williams. They also raised concerns about his conduct at a previous halfway house.

Prosecutors further pointed to Williams’ access to a tablet. He can use the device for video calls, emails, games and streaming content.

They said Williams had made 231 video calls, totalling more than 45 hours.

The dispute centres on whether security concerns justify the restrictions. The defence argues that the current conditions limit Williams’ contact with others while he awaits trial.

Pooh Shiesty Faces Trial in February 2027

Williams is scheduled to face trial in February 2027. The case involves allegations of robbery and kidnapping connected to Gucci Mane.

The allegations remain unproven in court. Williams is presumed innocent unless prosecutors prove his guilt.

The judge’s decision on the emergency motion could affect Williams’ detention conditions and visitation arrangements before the trial begins.
