Under the proposed arrangements, China will extend the rollover of a $4 billion loan. Kuwait is also expected to roll over its $300 million loan.
Together with Saudi Arabia’s $3 billion commitment, the arrangements are expected to provide Pakistan with $7.3 billion in loan rollovers.
Finance Ministry sources said the Chinese loan is due for rollover in March 2027. All three countries are expected to extend their loans for approximately one year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is expected to receive $1.21 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December, according to the sources.
The proposed rollovers form part of Pakistan’s external financing plan for the current fiscal year. The country faces total external payments of around $21 billion.
Of this amount, the government expects to cover $7.3 billion through loan rollovers from China, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
A day earlier, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb told reporters at Parliament House that Saudi Arabia had already rolled over its $3 billion loan.

He said the matter had been deferred until an appropriate time following discussions with the Saudi finance minister.
Aurangzeb described the meeting as positive and highlighted the strong relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He also said Pakistan did not currently need additional financial assistance from Riyadh.
The finance minister said Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves were sufficient to cover approximately three months of imports.
He also highlighted the country’s annual Eurobond repayment obligations, which stand at around €1.5 billion.
According to Aurangzeb, the government is working to ensure that future administrations can meet these obligations without facing financial difficulties.
Commenting on Pakistan’s IMF programme, Aurangzeb said the Fund’s Executive Board could meet in December.
However, he added that the meeting date had not yet been confirmed.
The expected $1.21 billion disbursement will depend on the relevant IMF approval process.
