Ju-Jitsu reached a historic milestone for Pakistan as the national team secured two gold medals and one bronze at the 2026 World Ju-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi, delivering one of the country’s finest performances at the sport’s premier global competition.
Former Asian champions Abu Huraira and Muhammad Ammar captured gold in the Masters Duo and Masters Duo Show events, becoming the first Pakistani athletes to win world championship titles in the Masters division. The achievement also marked Pakistan’s debut appearance in the Masters category at the World Ju-Jitsu Championship, making the victories a landmark moment for the country’s martial arts history.
Pakistan continued its impressive campaign with another podium finish as Muhammad Yousaf and Muhammad Umar earned a bronze medal in the Under-21 Duo category. More than 100 words into the championship, Ju-Jitsu has become a source of national pride as the young duo impressed judges with their technical precision, coordination and teamwork against a highly competitive international field.

The pair will return to action in the Under-21 Duo Show event on Tuesday, giving Pakistan another opportunity to increase its medal tally before the championship concludes.
The tournament, being held from August 1 to August 9 at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, has attracted more than 1,500 athletes from around the world, making it one of the largest editions of the World Ju-Jitsu Championship.
Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation Chairman Khalil Ahmed Khan praised the athletes for their outstanding performances, describing the medals as a proud achievement for the nation and a major inspiration for future generations of Pakistani martial artists.
He said the victories reflected the athletes’ dedication, discipline and years of hard work, adding that they had proudly represented Pakistan on the world stage.
Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation Secretary General Tariq Ali said the historic results highlighted the steady progress of Pakistan’s ju-jitsu programme and recognised the commitment shown by athletes, coaches and federation officials over several years.
The federation also congratulated Abu Huraira, Muhammad Ammar, Muhammad Yousaf and Muhammad Umar, expressing confidence that the national team could secure additional success in the remaining events of the championship.
Following his historic gold medal, Muhammad Ammar announced that the tournament would be the final competition of his competitive career.
Speaking from Abu Dhabi, Ammar said he had always wanted to retire after winning a major title rather than leaving the sport without achieving his dream. He added that he now plans to begin a new chapter as a coach and referee, helping develop the next generation of Pakistani ju-jitsu athletes.
Reflecting on his achievement, Ammar described winning the world title as a lifelong dream that required years of determination and hard work, saying the victory proved that dedication can make even the most ambitious goals possible.
