Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a late-night phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss regional developments and closer diplomatic coordination.
The Foreign Office said the two ministers spoke on Tuesday night. They reviewed bilateral relations and reaffirmed the close ties between Pakistan and Egypt.
The ministers also discussed the need for stronger consultations on regional issues.
According to the Foreign Office, the consultations could take place through the Regional Four (R4) foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt.
Dar and Abdelatty also agreed to meet on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The two foreign ministers reviewed relations between Pakistan and Egypt during the call.
The Foreign Office described the ties between the two countries as close and fraternal.
The discussion also covered regional developments and the need for continued diplomatic engagement.

The latest conversation comes as regional powers seek greater coordination on security and political issues across the Middle East.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt have been coordinating through the R4 framework.
The mechanism aims to strengthen consultations on regional crises and promote stability.
The four countries have held several ministerial meetings since the framework emerged earlier this year.
The fourth ministerial meeting took place in Cairo in June. Another meeting followed in Amman on August 5 on the sidelines of a ministerial gathering focused on Jerusalem.
Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Abdelatty discussed the regional situation in Amman.
They also called for continued consultation and coordination.
The latest R4 discussions come after Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed a defence agreement in Makkah on August 7.
The agreement provides for collective defence cooperation among the three countries.
Pakistan and Türkiye have described the pact as defensive in nature. They have also said it is not directed against any specific country.
The agreement includes plans for deeper military coordination, joint exercises and defence technology cooperation.
Egypt did not sign the agreement.
However, Turkish officials had previously indicated that Cairo could potentially join the arrangement because of its military and strategic importance.
The upcoming R4 engagement could provide an opportunity to discuss Egypt’s role in the evolving regional security framework.
Cairo could deepen security and diplomatic cooperation without formally joining the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Türkiye defence pact.
For Pakistan, the talks also come as Islamabad seeks close coordination with Gulf countries and Türkiye.
At the same time, Pakistan continues to maintain diplomatic channels with other regional actors.
Dar and Abdelatty agreed to meet during the upcoming UN General Assembly session in New York.
The meeting could provide another platform for discussions on regional security and diplomatic coordination.
Officials involved in the diplomatic process are expected to focus on the changing Middle East security situation.
They may also discuss the future of the R4 mechanism and ways to strengthen political coordination among the four countries.
The renewed engagement highlights Pakistan and Egypt’s interest in maintaining regional dialogue as geopolitical tensions continue to evolve.
