NBP Marks Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with Call for Greater Financial Inclusion

KARACHI, August 14, 2026: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) marked the country’s 79th Independence Day with a ceremony at its Head Office in Karachi, highlighting the importance of financial inclusion and economic empowerment.

NBP President and CEO Rehmat Ali Hasnie led the ceremony, which brought together senior management and staff from across the bank. The event began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the national anthem and a cake-cutting ceremony.

Addressing employees, Hasnie paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founders and Armed Forces. He also highlighted the bank’s role in supporting financial inclusion and economic opportunities across the country.

“Real freedom means economic empowerment and financial inclusion for every Pakistani,” Hasnie said.

He described the current year as a landmark period for the bank. He said NBP’s strength would help it expand services for farmers, shopkeepers, students and women entrepreneurs.

The financial inclusion agenda remains central to NBP’s efforts as the bank continues to broaden access to financial services across Pakistan. Hasnie also highlighted NBP’s ongoing digital transformation, which aims to make banking services more accessible and efficient for customers.

The NBP chief said the bank remained committed to serving pensioners, remittance senders and government beneficiaries. He reiterated the institution’s identity as “The People’s Bank” and stressed its role in supporting communities across the country.

The Independence Day ceremony reflected NBP’s wider commitment to economic participation and access to financial services. The bank said its continued focus on digital banking and inclusive services would help support different segments of society.

The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, as NBP employees joined in marking Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
