Masood produced an unbeaten 88 as Pakistan seized control of the Test against the West Indies after dismissing the hosts for 345 and closing the day in a commanding position.

Pakistan’s bowlers completed a strong comeback on the second day after West Indies resumed at 194-3 overnight. Fast bowler Mohammad Ali led the attack with four wickets as the hosts lost their remaining seven wickets for 151 runs.

West Indies’ innings suffered an early setback when Kavem Hodge fell for 84 after adding just one run to his overnight score. Shai Hope continued to anchor the innings but missed out on a century after Mohammad Ali trapped him lbw for 92. Hope’s patient knock included six fours and one six.

Mohammad Ali finished with impressive figures of 4-50. He also dismissed Justin Greaves, Shamar Joseph, and Jayden Seales to wrap up the innings. Pakistan’s fielders supported the bowlers well, with Salman Ali Agha taking four catches.

Pakistan lost opener Azan Awais early when Kemar Roach struck, but Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq quickly shifted the momentum. The pair added a fluent 155-run partnership for the second wicket, scoring at almost a run-a-ball during the afternoon session.

Imam scored a composed 63 from 102 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries before Shamar Joseph dismissed him. Reflecting on his innings, Imam said his focus was to leave the ball well and capitalize whenever the bowlers delivered in his scoring areas.

Masood, who was removed as Pakistan’s Test captain after the series defeat in Bangladesh earlier this year, played an attractive unbeaten innings. The left-hander struck 11 fours in his 88 off 137 balls and survived two close chances, including a dropped catch and a successful review that overturned an lbw decision.

Jayden Seales gave the West Indies a late breakthrough by dismissing Babar Azam just before bad light ended play. Salman Ali Agha safely negotiated the remaining deliveries to remain at the crease with Masood heading into the third day.

Pakistan will look to build a substantial first-innings lead as Masood resumes his innings with a chance to complete a well-deserved century.
