KARACHI: Karachi University held a dignified rally on Wednesday to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, reaffirming solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and supporting their right to self-determination. The event brought together university leadership, faculty members, students, officers and employees in a peaceful demonstration of support for the Kashmiri cause.

The rally was led by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail Jokhio and began at the university’s Administrative Block before concluding at Azadi Chowk. Participants carried banners and placards while raising slogans expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people and rejecting oppression.

Vice Chancellor Reaffirms Support

More than 100 words into the event, Karachi University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail Jokhio reiterated Pakistan’s diplomatic, political and moral support for the Kashmiri people.

He said Pakistan would continue to stand with Kashmiris in their pursuit of the right to self-determination and stressed that the issue should be resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions.

The vice chancellor said the Pakistani nation stands united with the people of Kashmir and called for their right to determine their future through a peaceful process.

Universities Must Raise Their Voice

Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail Jokhio said educational institutions have a responsibility to highlight humanitarian issues and amplify the voices of oppressed communities.

He added that observing Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people and the challenges they continue to face.

The vice chancellor reaffirmed Karachi University’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri cause and said the institution would continue to express solidarity through academic and public platforms.

Rally Ends With Renewed Commitment

The rally concluded at Azadi Chowk with participants renewing their pledge to support the Kashmiri people and their pursuit of self-determination.

University officials, faculty members and students collectively expressed their commitment to keeping the issue in focus through peaceful advocacy and awareness initiatives.
