inDrive Plans Super App Expansion Across Pakistan

Global mobility and urban services platform inDrive is planning a major expansion in Pakistan. The company aims to develop its ride-hailing platform into a broader Super App with multiple digital services.

Speaking to reporters in Karachi, Wael Ibrahim, Regional Director EMEA at inDrive, said Pakistan offers strong potential for long-term digital growth.

He pointed to rapid smartphone adoption, urbanisation and rising internet use as key factors behind the company’s strategy.

inDrive entered Pakistan in 2021. Since then, it has expanded its ride-hailing services to more than 20 cities. Its intercity service now connects more than 200 cities.

Pakistan Offers Room for Ride-Hailing Growth

Ibrahim said ride-hailing penetration in Pakistan remains around 5%, despite the country’s population exceeding 250 million.

He said the low penetration rate creates significant room for future growth.

Pakistan has nearly 208.05 million mobile subscribers, while internet penetration has crossed 60%, according to figures cited by the company.

“Despite a population of over 250 million, ride-hailing penetration in Pakistan remains at around 5.0 per cent,” Ibrahim said.

He added that rapid urbanisation, smartphone adoption and gaps in public transport could support further growth.

inDrive Expands Beyond Passenger Rides

The company is building several services around its core ride-hailing business.

Its quick-commerce service, inDrive.Groceries, has established a presence in Karachi and recently expanded into Lahore.

inDrive is also increasing its freight and courier operations. The services aim to support small and medium-sized enterprises while creating additional earning opportunities for drivers.

The strategy could help the company move from a ride-hailing platform toward a wider digital services ecosystem.

Company Explores Electric Mobility

inDrive is also exploring investment in electric vehicle infrastructure in Pakistan.

The company said its plans align with Pakistan’s target of reaching 30% electric vehicle penetration by 2030.

The move could support cleaner urban transport while creating new opportunities within the country’s growing mobility sector.

Safety Remains a Key Focus

Ibrahim also outlined the company’s safety measures for drivers and passengers.

The platform uses identity and document verification, facial recognition and GPS tracking. It also offers anonymised in-app calls and chats.

Users can share live trip details and access an emergency SOS button connected to 24/7 support.

According to the company, trips also include automatic in-ride insurance at no additional cost. Other safety features include encrypted audio trip recording and account freezing for serious policy violations.

inDrive said these measures can also help encourage more women to join its driver network.

Global Platform Targets Wider Digital Ecosystem

Globally, inDrive operates in more than 1,200 cities across 48 countries.

The company says its app has recorded more than 400 million downloads and facilitated over 8 billion completed transactions.

With mobility, logistics, quick commerce and green transport services, inDrive is positioning itself for a broader role in Pakistan’s digital economy.

The company’s planned Super App expansion reflects its long-term strategy to build a wider ecosystem around everyday urban services.
