Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has urged young people to study the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and apply its teachings in their daily lives.
He made the remarks while addressing a Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ seminar at Governor House Karachi. Prominent Ulema, Mashaaikh, scholars, academics, teachers and other distinguished personalities attended the event.
Governor Nehal Hashmi said the Seerah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ provides complete guidance for humanity. He stressed that the Seerah should not remain limited to reading or discussion.
The governor said Pakistani youth should learn the importance of character from the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
He said strong character can transform knowledge into wisdom, power into responsibility and wealth into a means of serving others. Leadership, he added, should also reflect service to humanity.
He recalled that the people of Makkah called the Holy Prophet ﷺ As-Sadiq and Al-Amin even before the declaration of Prophethood.
“These titles were not given by any government or institution,” he said, adding that society recognised his honesty and character.
The governor urged young people to build character before seeking positions. A position can provide authority, he said, but character earns credibility and trust.
Governor Nehal Hashmi said the Seerah teaches people how to remain patient during difficult times. It also provides guidance on dealing with opposition, exercising authority, forgiving others and protecting vulnerable people.
He said the Holy Prophet ﷺ established a just society based on trust, responsibility and respect for people’s rights.
The governor highlighted the rights of neighbours, orphans, needy people and other vulnerable sections of society. He said laws should not remain confined to books but should influence people’s behaviour and daily conduct.
He also recited Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s famous verse:
“Ki Muhammad ﷺ se wafa tune to hum tere hain,
Ye jahan cheez hai kya, Lauh-o-Qalam tere hain.”
He said love for the Holy Prophet ﷺ should appear through compassion, patience and justice in people’s conduct.
Earlier, Maulana Mufti Taqi Usmani said the Holy Prophet ﷺ is the greatest model for humanity. He stressed the need to study the Seerah through academic and intellectual approaches.
He called on educational institutions to incorporate guidance from the Seerah across different subjects. He also urged students to regularly evaluate their conduct against its teachings.
Chairman National Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen & Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Authority Khursheed Ahmed Nadeem said the Holy Prophet ﷺ came as a mercy for all humanity.
He said children should grow up with the Holy Prophet ﷺ as their role model. He also highlighted the role of teachers in character building.
Nadeem said Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ clubs have been established through the authority. Seerah Chairs have also been established at nine universities.
Allama Syed Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi stressed mutual acceptance, tolerance and respect. He said young people should learn patience to promote peace and harmony.
Former federal minister Haji Hanif Tayyab said society could overcome moral decline and disorder by sincerely following the Seerah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
Qari Muhammad Usman also called for the teachings of the Holy Quran and Seerah to become part of everyday life.
Allama Syed Razi Jafar Naqvi highlighted the intellectual and social challenges facing young people. He called for character building to become an integral part of education.
Dr Syed Aziz-ur-Rehman proposed dedicated Seerah sections in educational institution libraries. He said the Holy Prophet ﷺ placed great importance on young people during both the Makki and Madani periods.
The seminar was also attended by Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Fahd Haroon, Principal Secretary to Governor Sindh Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, Prime Minister Youth Programme Sindh Coordinator Dr Fahad Shafiq, Shah Muhammad Shah, Bashir Memon, Ejaz Farooqi and Khurram Abbas Bhatti.
Other Ulema, Mashaaikh, scholars and distinguished personalities also participated.
At the conclusion, Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi thanked the scholars and guests for attending the seminar.
