Karachi, August 12, 2026: Film, theatre and drama can serve as powerful tools for social reform by shaping public attitudes and raising awareness about important issues, speakers said at a meeting of the Hamdard Shura Karachi.
Dr. Muhammad Irfan Aziz, Head of the Department of Mass Communication at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology, shared his views on social reform through film, theatre and drama during the meeting.
Hamdard Foundation Pakistan organised the session at Bahria Town Tower in Karachi.
Dr. Aziz highlighted the potential of creative media to influence society and encourage constructive thinking. He discussed how films, theatrical productions and television dramas can present social issues in ways that connect directly with audiences.
The discussion focused on the role of the creative arts in creating awareness and encouraging communities to reflect on social challenges.
Ms. Sadia Rashid, President of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, attended the meeting along with General (Retd.) Moinuddin Haider, Speaker of Hamdard Shura Karachi.
Col. (R) Mukhtar Ahmed Butt was also present at the session.
The meeting brought together academics and senior social figures to discuss how communication and creative expression can contribute to a more aware and responsible society.
Speakers emphasised the importance of using media responsibly to promote positive values, social awareness and constructive dialogue.
