Court Seeks Detailed Investigation Report in Gul Plaza Blaze Case

Gul Plaza blaze investigations came under judicial scrutiny on Tuesday after a Karachi sessions court directed the investigating officer to submit a comprehensive report at the next hearing, expressing concern over the slow pace of the probe.

Additional District and Sessions Judge South issued the directive while hearing interim bail applications filed by union president Tanveer Pasta and other accused in the case.

Investigating Officer DSP Aamir Waraich presented a progress report but requested more time to file the final charge sheet. He told the court that he would seek an extension from the magistrate to complete the investigation.

The court questioned the delay and said repeated progress updates alone did not satisfy the requirements of the investigation. The judge instructed the investigating officer to appear at the next hearing with a complete and detailed report.

The judge also warned the investigating officer against making careless remarks to the media, saying such statements could undermine public confidence in the investigation and affect perceptions of the case.

The court adjourned the hearing until August 4 and directed the investigating officer to present a full update on the progress made in the investigation.
