Pakistan Houthi Attack Islamabad Condemns Strike on Madina Power Station

The Pakistan Houthi Attack response came after an alleged strike on the Taibah power distribution station in Madina on September 29.

Pakistan strongly condemned the incident. The Foreign Office (FO) called it a “grave provocation”.

The FO said the attack targeted civilian infrastructure. The station supplies electricity to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque.

“The sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of worshippers and pilgrims must be respected under all circumstances,” the FO said.

Pakistan called for an immediate and unconditional end to what it described as reckless actions.

The FO warned that such attacks could threaten regional peace and security.

Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Saudi Arabia

The Foreign Office reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

It also backed the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.

“Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to safeguard the Two Holy Mosques, protect its people and ensure the safety of pilgrims,” the statement said.

Islamabad also reiterated its commitment to regional peace and stability.

Saudi Arabia Accuses Houthis

The statement followed accusations by the Saudi-led coalition.

The coalition said Houthi forces struck the electricity distribution station in Madina.

The station supplies power to the Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque.

The Houthis have denied the accusation.

Coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said a drone struck the station at 5:11am on September 29.

He said an investigation found evidence linking the Houthis to the attack.

The coalition said authorities also examined the wreckage of the drone.

One transformer stopped working after the attack. However, the coalition said the wider electricity network remained operational.

Fighting Intensifies in Yemen

The incident comes amid renewed fighting in Yemen.

Yemeni government forces have reported attacks against Houthi targets.

The latest escalation marks the most serious Saudi-Houthi fighting since a UN-brokered truce largely halted cross-border attacks in 2022.

Hostilities have intensified this year.

The Houthis declared a naval blockade involving Saudi Arabia in July. They also began attacks on Saudi territory and shipping.

Houthi forces have made significant territorial gains along Yemen’s Red Sea coast.

Saudi Arabia has responded with airstrikes in Yemen. It has also backed government forces fighting the Houthis.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Defence Ties

Pakistan has repeatedly expressed support for Saudi Arabia.

The two countries have also strengthened their defence cooperation.

They signed the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) in September 2025.

Under the agreement, an attack on either country would be treated as aggression against both.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia also belong to the Makkah Defence Alliance.

Turkiye is another member of the alliance.

The three countries signed the pact on August 7.

The agreement provides that an attack on one member would be treated as an attack on all.

Their military chiefs met in Riyadh last month.

They expressed a shared determination to strengthen military cooperation under the alliance.

On September 30, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said Pakistan was “there to help” Saudi Arabia in any conflict.

Muslim Countries Condemn Attack

The alleged attack has drawn criticism from several Muslim countries and organisations.

Turkiye strongly condemned the incident.

Its foreign ministry said attacks on civilian infrastructure in Madina threatened Saudi sovereignty and security.

Turkiye also called for an immediate end to such actions.

Qatar also condemned the alleged attack.

Doha described it as a serious assault on the sanctity of Islamic holy sites.

Qatar said the incident violated Saudi sovereignty and international law.

The Arab League called the incident an “unacceptable transgression”.

It warned that such attacks could provoke Muslims worldwide and increase regional tensions.

Al-Azhar, the Cairo-based centre of Sunni Islamic learning, also denounced the incident.

The institution said targeting Madina could provoke Muslims around the world.
