Pakistan will begin a five-day training camp in Karachi on Sunday as the T20 squad prepares for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

The camp will take place at the National Bank Stadium. Players will work on batting, bowling and fielding during the sessions.

The squad will travel to Japan after completing the camp.

Pakistan earned a direct place in the quarter-finals based on its ranking. The team will play its first match on September 28.

The preliminary round will determine Pakistan’s opponent.

Pakistan Secure Direct Quarter-Final Berth

Pakistan are among four teams that received direct quarter-final places.

Defending champions India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh also secured direct entry.

Six teams will compete for the remaining four quarter-final spots.

Afghanistan will face hosts Japan on September 24. Hong Kong will meet Malaysia on the same day.

Hong Kong will then play Oman on September 25. Afghanistan will face Nepal later that day.

Japan will play Nepal on September 26. Malaysia will take on Oman on the same date.

Pakistan Seek Better Asian Games Result

Pakistan finished fourth at the 2022 Asian Games.

The team also entered that tournament at the quarter-final stage. Pakistan defeated Hong Kong in the quarter-final.

Afghanistan then beat Pakistan by four wickets in the semi-final.

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the bronze-medal match under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

The Pakistan squad will now look to improve on that result in Japan.

Sahibzada Farhan to Lead Pakistan

Opener Sahibzada Farhan will captain the Pakistan team at the Asian Games.

The squad includes Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed and Chaudhry Saad Masood.

Muaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Wasim, Saim Ayub and Sufiyan Muqeem are also part of the squad.

Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shad, Usman Khan, Hassan Nawaz, Arafat Manas and Haider Ali complete the 15-member squad.

Mike Hesson will serve as head coach.

Ashley Noffke, Mansoor Ahmed and Imranullah will join him as coaches. Usman Hashmi will travel with the team as technical official.
